Stuart is very professional and objective, he has good knowledge of the local area and the buildings. He conducted a comprehensive survey of the property from the inside and the outside. He was polite to the property's residents and explained his work clearly. Some locations were difficult to access, and Stuart made extra efforts to accommodate them. As we went along he explained the purpose of notable observations and answered questions. We had a post-survey debrief when Stuart explained the preliminary findings in priority, offered his service as a court witness, and recommended local tradesmen for my consideration. "Avoid at All Costs – Unprofessional and Misleading I hired Alexander Scotland Surveyors for a Level 3 survey, but the experience has been frustrating and deeply disappointing. Initially, Stuart Scotland carried out a Level 2 survey despite us clearly agreeing and paying for a Level 3. When this was caught, he had to go back and perform the correct survey, which only added delays to the process. Even after the second attempt, the survey was incomplete and lazy, failing to identify significant and visible defects, including: - Severe damage to the extension roof (bent skylight seals, cracked glass, and a bent ceiling structure). - Mould and water damage on the en suite bathroom ceiling, which was evident before his inspection. - Non-functional plumbing in the hallway toilet. - Cracked grout and failing silicone in wet areas, leading to water leaks into the downstairs bedroom. Stuart gave us false confidence that the property was in good condition, which influenced our decision to move forward. However, when contractors uncovered these issues, Stuart tried to dismiss them with excuses and even made false claims, such as stating he had no access to the roof—despite his report containing photographs of it. When researching this company, I noticed their Google reviews are all over a year old and suspiciously short, with most being one-liners under photos. These do not reflect the reality of my experience, which has been far from professional or thorough. The complaints process is unnecessarily convoluted, requiring postal submissions, and I have no confidence that it will be handled fairly. The lack of transparency and accountability has only compounded the stress at this crucial stage of the home-buying process. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, avoid Alexander Scotland Surveyors. I regret ever engaging their services."
