"Terrible experience with a dishonest and unprofessional company. Despite a few initial positives and what began as a promising relationship, the project was ultimately marred by poor communication, unprofessional conduct, and serious breaches of trust. Based on our experience, we strongly advise against using Bluelime due to the significant stress, financial impact, and unresolved issues we encountered. The kitchen and bathroom installations were OK, and the project progressed relatively quickly given its scale. However, Bluelime deviated from approved plans within a conservation area, resulting in compliance issues with the local council and additional costs estimated at £15,000–£20,000 to be incurred to correct their mistakes. Heating and insulation were poorly installed, and having sought multiple second opinions, we remain dissatisfied with Bluelime’s interpretation of professional standards in these areas. Communication broke down as the project progressed. Bluelime responded in a manner that felt defensive and, on occasion, intimidating and combative. Costs increased unexpectedly — for example, door fitting rose from £1200 to £2640 — and some of the later quotes appeared inflated, such as £1,050 for radiator installation, which our regular plumber completed for £300. The property was not ready for move-in on multiple occasions, which was especially disruptive for our young family. The inconvenience was considerable. Additional concerns included the taking of our personal tools without permission, failure to honour warranties and the agreed snagging period, and inconsistent workmanship due to last minute and unexplained changes in the team working on the property. We also revisited reviews on mybuilder.com and found that the comments made by kateglinsman now resonate with us—particularly the concerns raised about Bluelime’s claimed affiliations and accreditations. We would encourage potential clients to explore the company’s history and Alton Campell's previous companies via Companies House, where records of his previous companies liquidations, outstanding debts to creditors, and other relevant details are publicly available. Update: we have now found the roof tiles have been wrongly spaced along with other errors on the roof. The whole roof is going to need to be redone. In the loft there has not been the correct level of insulation added and no vapour barrier installed so the roof joists are liable to condensation damage. The whole of the inside of the loft will need to be redone. We have had quotes of another 60k on top of the costs mentioned earlier. Money that we don't have. We have also become aware that Alton Campbell isn't a qualified architect when we checked on the ARB website."

"A couple of years ago I was quite badly burnt by an architect who drew plans for a loft extension. To cut a long story short it cost us thousands on top their fee just to put the loft right in order for it to pass planning. Right from the start, Carly at Bluelime gave me an initial call to gather the background information - she was very friendly, helpful and informative regarding planning permissions and building control.
