"I called Happy Drains for assistance with water backing up into my kitchen. I reported the symptoms as a “blocked sink”, which is all I could reasonably describe as a customer. However, the underlying cause was never properly diagnosed. The attending engineer later wrote that he was “uncertain if other flats connect to this pipework,” yet the final report still stated the issue was internal to my flat. No CCTV investigation or tracing was carried out, despite this uncertainty. This left me with a conclusion that contradicted both the physical symptoms and the engineer’s own notes. When I disputed the findings, my concerns about the incomplete assessment were not addressed. Instead, the company relied on my initial symptom description as if it were a technical diagnosis, which it wasn’t. As a consumer, I can only report what I see — it’s the engineer’s responsibility to establish the actual cause with reasonable care and skill. Although I ultimately chose to pay the invoice to avoid prolonged stress, the experience left me without confidence in the accuracy of their assessment or the way my concerns were handled. I hope future customers receive a clearer and more thorough investigation than I did."

"Truly terrible service. Sent around an engineer to fix the blockage, he did a rushed job, was clearly in a hurry and barely spent 15 mins of the one hour appointment. He didn’t fix the pipe back on properly so created a leak that did not exist. When I realised I tried my best to screw it back on to stop the leak. I contacted the company and was met with hostility and aggression, no accountability. Claims that since I had touched it it was my fault. So I’m supposed to leave an active leak alone? Terrible service, rude staff, would never recommend."

"Save yourself the hassle and use a different company. We had a blocked drain in our flat and called happy drains for rodding and jetting. The engineer arrived and said his machine was getting wrapped up so the drain must be collapsed. They did not attempt to jet. We then received a quote for recommended follow on works totalling £1500. After he left, we noticed that two cast iron gulley grates had been broken. He did not inform us that he was going to do this and left without telling us he had broken our property. We reported it to the reception workers who said that they could either give us a discount or they’d replace. We had to push to have a like for like replacement opposed to a cheap plastic cover. A different engineer visited to fit the replacement grates and was genuinely one of the rudest people I’ve dealt with from a business. He denied that his ‘brother in law of 20 years’ had broken 2 grates and that it was only one. This was not disputed when we originally complained, they saved that to be rude to us in our own home. He was very aggressive saying that we were lying and were accusing his ‘brother in law of 20 years’ of lying. He also said we were ‘acting like landlords’ and ‘making a massive deal out of nothing’ for caring about our property being damaged. After some while of arguing with us, threatening to leave without fixing the damage, saying that he wouldn’t make any money on the job now, he phoned the reception who told him to fix it. The second grate had now been fitted over a month later, again with comments about how we ‘made such a big deal out of that’. I’m not entirely sure how asking for damages a company makes to our home to be rectified is making a big deal. We reported this behaviour to the reception and they didn’t not address it, let alone apologise. I am astounded that this behaviour happened and was tolerated by the receptionist, clearly this is their acceptable standard of service. I don’t appreciate hiring a company to do a job for them to not own up about damaging property then putting up such a nasty fight to fix it. Save time and get better service by choosing another company, they clearly don’t value their customers."

"I have a blocked drain in my front drive that causes the drive to flood when it rains.  I called Happy Drains and had a conversation with Max about the history, explaining that other professional companies couldn’t unblock it and said perhaps we need more powerful jetwash to try to unblock it. I was hopeful that they could fix the problem taking into consideration all high reviews. When the man arrived to do the agreed work, it was clear that the situation wasn’t passed on with key details. He cleared the drain manually and after 20 min, he told us that the jet wouldn't work due to the trap obstructing the jet and it needed a pump, but he doesn't have it. I don’t know anything about drains or traps and I understand that they can’t guarantee the drain will be unblocked, but I thought I hired professionals. You would think they would have some standard equipment, especially after explaining the situation we had. When I pay for a jet to be used, I expect that to happen at least. The man explained that Happy Drains would call us, but nobody did, instead we just received the bill. When I called the office to say I wasn’t happy to pay the invoice since work wasn't performed, I was met with a rude assertion that Happy Drains had done everything right, had fulfilled the contract and expected to be paid in full.  No understanding that a) the actual unblock had not been started or successful, b) the jet hadn’t been used or c) an acknowledgement that they hadn’t communicated with the man they sent to do the job. After many emails eventually we negotiated a small reduction. Such a bad service, this business has no integrity and simply looking for gains. Advice to stay away and not get deceived by good reviews."

"I used Happy Drains service and its a mixed review for jobs they did for me. The very first job was wonderfully done, prompt back office and engineer who visited us. The 2nd job is where it wasn't so great. The visiting engineer knew about 1 of the 2 works needed. So another visit was promptly organized. The report for 2/2 job never came out despite I believe more than 1 email and calls to their office. I think they even did not raise invoice until I called and advised them. If I just voice over and don't reflect on rating, it will not get registered well. It would have been a easy 5/5 from me otherwise."
